Special Buddy Connection is a 1 day camp dedicated to bringing Hawaii youth ages 11-17 with bowel/bladder conditions together to network, engage in education about their conditions, introduce independence, and overall have fun. The Special Buddy Connection (SBC) offers a free of cost, safe, secure, and fun environment where youths increase their awareness of their conditions and medical treatment plans. Nurses and physicians are present throughout the event, along with counselors who participated in the program in their youth. Although, many youths are initially reluctant to attend, due to their condition; this event becomes a “stepping stone” to their learning and gaining independence. This opportunity is offered to all youths throughout the State of Hawaii, including the airfare for attendees on neighboring islands.
